History

Gymnastikos S. Larissas Merger With AEL 1964

From its founding in the year 1928, up until the year 2006, AEL 1964 BC was part of the Gymnastikos S. Larissas athletic association and therefore the club was named Gymnastikos S. Larissas BC. However, since 2006, the club has been named AEL 1964 BC after it was merged with the parent athletic association of AEL 1964.
In 2006, the basketball team of the Gymnastikos S. Larissas athletic association merged with the football club of the AEL 1964 athletic association to form a new parent athletic association for AEL 1964, which included both the AEL 1964 football club as well as the Gymnastikos S. Larissas basketball club. The Gymnastikos S. Larissas basketball club, Gymnastikos S. Larissas BC, was re-named AEL 1964 BC after the merger.
